Stewardship
The gift of life is a sacred trust with God. The love from God gave us the gift of life and all the blessings within that life. Possession is meaningless without service for God's Kingdom. We came into this world without an understanding of our purpose. What does God require of us? God has given us the duty of being good stewards of the world in which we live. As we come to know God as our Creator the direction of our lives is changed. We begin to reach out to others and share the bountiful gifts that God has given to us. Our reason for living is our love for God.
Growth in giving is possible when a Christian chooses to use less for self and to give more to the work of God's Kingdom. Derbyshire wants you to be all that God expects you to be, For this reason you are often challenged to give and to grow in your giving. Spiritual maturity includes being a cheerful, generous giver of time, talents and resources. Can we do less than our best for God?
Derbyshire provides opportunities for giving monetarily through three tracts:

Members who choose World Missions 1 as their mission giving option will be sending 64% of their gifts for Cooperative Missions in Virginia, 2% for Partnership Missions and 34% to World Mission Causes through the budget of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Members who choose World Mission 2 (our church's default track) as their mission giving option will direct their gifts be divided 70% for Cooperative Missions in Virginia, 2% for Partnership Missions and 28% for World Mission Causes. The World Mission Causes under this plan are a mixture of SBC budget items and other ministries as approved by the Virginia Baptist General Association.

Members who choose to direct their monetary gifts using the World Missions 3 option will see their funds disbursed 70% for Cooperative Missions in Virginia, 2% for Partnership Missions, and 28% for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship ministries.
