Youth

At Derbyshire Baptist Church, teenagers are important to us. It is our desire to maintain a well-rounded ministry program to meet their spiritual needs, along with some personal needs. The students share in friendship and deeply want to have a place where they can feel accepted. We want our youth group to be just that place. It is a place where we study the Bible, seeking to grow in our understanding of God and how we should then live. Together, we share in fun fellowship times of play, recreation, and adventure! There are opportunities to do ministry as well, as we seek to follow Christ’ s example of serving others. We worship as a youth group on occasion and share with our larger church family in the worship of God on Sundays. As we grow in our faith, we hope others will see and also desire to know God because they see his love in us. Our program is designed to give a balance in all of these areas so we can grow together as God’s “teenage” family at Derbyshire.

The transition between the teen-age years and young adult status is a giant leap. We try to help our young people bridge that gap as they suddenly find themselves out of high school and into another setting. Communication is all-important. Our time is spent in talking, listening, and counseling. The pressures of society become greater on these young adults as they strive to merge into the future.

Rob and Denise Dysert teach a Sunday School Class for college students. They help our students stay in touch with their church family through Bible Study, e-mail communications, and weekly devotionals. Even when away at school, our students can communicate with their class. When our young people are home they like to come to Bible Study, sit together in worship, and participate in group activities.

Some DBC activities may require a permission form. Download the form, fill it out, and turn it in to the appropriate staff member.
